Calls for Writers / Artists

Crescent Magazine is constantly looking for new perspectives. We are asking writers and artists to consider the themes below and explore these subjects with us! Proposals and submissions of articles, artwork, music, multimedia proposals, prose, poetry and videography for the following upcoming issues are now being accepted*:

ThreeFold
Deadline: June 2003 | Release: September 2003
There are many things that come in sets of three (3). The maiden-mother-crone trinity is well known and is repeated throughout many cultures, as are the Fates (who often appear as three women). The saying "three times a charm" is commonly used by many people. There are some Pagan paths which hold to "the law of three" or the "threefold law of return". What is the significance of the number three? In this issue, we will explore a wide variety of subjects that are connected to each other by virtue of their being a part of a set of three.

Inspiration and the Muse
Deadline: September 2003 | Release: November 2003
We find inspiration in a vast number of things. Where do you find inspiration? What moves you? Who has had a strong affect in your life? How do you nuture your creativity? This issue will delve into the ways we come up with new ideas and directions — how we find the drive to push ourselves to the next level and beyond. The muse has long been a constant — and yet sometimes elusive — spirit of creation, inspiration and motivation for artists, writers, musicians and many others. Expression takes many forms, and the ability to communicate through drama, writing, and the arts is vital to our spirits. Also consider how to remove creative blocks, how to disengage from entities or situations which may stifle your inspiration and expression. Consider what happens when we allow ourselves or others to be censored.

Traditions
Deadline: November 2004 | Release: February 2004
Tradition is an important aspect of our lives — it is a large part of the spiritual and religious practices of different families, cultures and paths of life. Many traditions are rituals and customs that have been passed on through families from generation to generation; other traditions are integral parts of culture and society; certain religious denominations may be called Traditions. Traditions may be very old, or very young — new traditions are being created every day. What traditions are imporatant to you? How do you think traditions should evolve and what can we do to either maintan the practices of old or to develop new ways of living? What traditions can we create to bring balance to our lives?
